15 Nov 2014
Dr. Dominic O'Sullivan and Dr. Ken Bruton accept the SEAI Research Award for 2014

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Awards 2014 were held on the 13th of November and an Intelligent Efficiency Research Group (IERG) project, Automated fault Detection for Air Handling Units (AHU), won the Research Award. The award was presented to Dr. Dominic O’Sullivan and Dr. Ken Bruton on the night. The project has previously won the UCC ICT Invention of the Year award in 2013.

Developed under the Enterprise Ireland-funded i2e2 Technology Centre the software automatically identifies faults in AHUs which can cost organisations significant time, money and resources to detect . The tool has been successfully trialled live across 26 pilot AHU on 6 industrial and commercial sites to demonstrate up to 30% energy savings.
