Continuing Steps into Management
**Call for Applications Now Open**
This programme seeks to build upon the ‘First Steps into Management’ programme which was introduced in UCC in 2017. It is intended that the ‘Continuing Steps into Management’ programme will bridge a gap for staff between the ‘First Steps’ programme and our more advanced Leadership programmes.
Not only will the target audience include graduates of the ‘First Steps’ programme, but also staff who are currently or who aspire to be team leaders and managers. To benefit fully from this programme, we recommend that you have completed the MBTI questionnaire and feedback process or are open to undertaking this in advance of the programme commencing.
All the modules will take place face to face and will be highly participatory including small group discussions, completion of self-assessments, reflective journaling and scenario-based activities.
Four main topics will be covered:
- UCC Values & Culture
- Dealing Effectively with Change & Conflict
- Team Ownership / Individual Responsibility / Accountability
- Clear Communications
Target Audience: Graduates of the First Steps into Management programme OR staff from all categories (academic, professional & administrative, technical and researchers) who are currently or who aspire to be team leaders and managers. To benefit fully from this programme, we recommend that you have completed the MBTI questionnaire and feedback process or are open to undertaking this in advance of the programme commencing.
Application Process: Submit this form outlining:
1. Why this programme is relevant to you at this stage in your career highlighting the relevance to a) your role b) your unit & c) UCC Strategic Plan 2023-2028’ (having discussed with your manager)
2. As you are progressing through your professional development and leadership journey which area do you currently find more challenging and very briefly why?
Deadline to apply: Applications to be made via this MS Form by 5pm Friday 1st August 2025
Criteria for earning the Digital Badge:
- Attend all workshops
- Presentation at final module
- 1,000 word (max) self-reflection
