14 November - FUAIM Lecture: "Secret Codes of Sounds: the multi-sensorial listening flutist."
Dr Jane Rigler
Music Department, School of Film, Music, & Theatre
Thursday, 14 Nov., 11am-1pm
O Riada Hall, UCC Music Building, Sundays Well Road, Cork
Jane Rigler is a flutist/composer inspired by Deep Listening®, a non-denominational approach to promoting multiple listening modalities that was developed by the US composer/performer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016). This interactive lecture-workshop-performance invites the audience to learn and engage directly with Deep Listening® as a compositional and creative interactive experience.
Jane has been awarded a Fulbright to teach and research at UCC until August 2020. She is studying Gaeilge, Sean-nós and learning the ancient Ogham scripts for a new composition based on the stones, ancient trees and holy wells.
The event is part of UCC Department of Music's FUAIM Lecture series, which is open to the public.
