Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree is awarded by the College of Medicine and Health to medical graduates of the National University of Ireland or else to medical graduates of another university working in a UCC teaching hospital on presentation of a suitable research thesis.
The principal investigators of this School can supervise research projects on a biomedical topic in their own laboratories (work completed “on-site”) or else supervise theses on work performed in research laboratories elsewhere including in laboratories overseas (work completed “off-site”).
Please consult our Research section to identify suitable research themes, topics and potential supervisors.
A third way in which MD is offered is by published work where already published work is submitted in a bound thesis.
For further details on regulations, please consult the College Calendar entry.
