Funding Success

Pacific Oyster BEES staff member Sarah Culloty has received funding for 2 EU FP7 projects she is a partner on. 

The first project BIVALIFE (Management of infectious diseases in oysters and mussels in Europe) is assessing mussel health throughout Europe and also the impact of oyster herpes virus on the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas.The project runs for three years and UCC funding is €256,410.

The second project BEADS (Bio-engineered micro Encapsulation of Active agents Delivered to Shellfish) is looking at mechanisms to develop and deliver microencapsulated products to shellfish.  The project runs for two years and UCC funding is €303,899.
