UCC staff and students are invited to view the shortlisted entries of the UNIC photo competition currently on display in the Hub Atrium and to cast their vote for their favourite photograph. A display of the shortlist was opened today by the Director for UNIC at UCC, Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law and will be in place until March 6th. Jean was joined by the UNIC student representatives, Margarita Linetska and Sadhbh Tierney, whose leadership and initiative brought this competition and exhibition to life. 

Thank you to all students who entered the recent UNIC Photo Competition. Our judges have been busy shortlisting the fantastic submissions. The shortlisted photos will be on display in the Hub Atrium from next Monday, February 23rd.

Why not stop by the Hub any time between February 23rd and March 6th to view the photographs!

UCC staff and students can cast their vote on their favourite photograph. A QR code will be available throughout the display to vote.

This competition invites UCC students to explore UNIC’s themes, including sustainability, post‑industrial cities, arts and creativity, and diversity across Europe. 

UNIC has launched two awards, the Thematic Lines Best Paper Award and Thematic Lines CityLabs Award 2026. UCC staff are encouraged to apply.

Aoife Dowling, UNIC Project Manager at UCC, participated in a staff training week in Jena and Dresden, Germany, on September 15-20, 2025. Aoife presented a session entitled 'Quality Assurance and Sustainability: ensuring that projects deliver measurable impact and long-term value'. Aoife outlines her experience of the staff week and key learnings below.

The Deputy President and Registrar's office, University College Cork, welcomed a visiting group of office assistants from the Education & Student Affairs unit of Erasmus University Rotterdam on November 18th to 20th, 2025. 

University College Cork hosted seven visitors from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) working in areas of governance, risk and cyber security for a knowledge-sharing visit on 21-22 October 2025. 

'Body Parts for Peace' is a workshop delivered to 50 participants of the Hidden Cities UNIC Blended Intensive Programme at University College Cork, 3 December 2025.
