The Perinatal Pathology Team at Cork University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital were highly commended for their project titled “Development of a Novel Specialist Perinatal Medical Scientist Programme” under the Innovation in Service Delivery Category at the 2023 Health Services Excellence Awards. The Team travelled to Dublin on 05 October to present their project at the selection event in Dr Steeven’s Hospital.

The Health Service Excellence Awards showcase and celebrate examples of the great work that happens every day across our health service. They also promote shared learning for other teams through the awards success stories.

The Team also presented this pioneering work at the recent International Stillbirth Alliance Conference in Sheffield and at Ireland South Grand Rounds.

All of the finalists in the 2023 Health Service Excellence Awards will be awarded a certificate celebrating their achievement at a presentation ceremony in December. In order to share the learning, the Health Service Executive is preparing a 2023 Health Service Excellence Award e-booklet detailing all the finalists who presented to the Selection Committee; this will be available on the Health Service Excellence Awards website by December 2023.
