Congratulations to Dr Tamara Escañuela Sánchez on her graduation

Our warmest congratulations to Dr Tamara Escañuela Sánchez who was conferred with her PhD during the UCC College of Medicine and Health Spring Conferring Ceremony held at Devere Hall on 21 March 2024.
Tamara’s PhD titled “Rethinking stillbirth through behaviour change” (The RELEVANT Study) aimed to build the evidence-base to inform the development of a behaviour change intervention to raise awareness of and reduce modifiable risk factors for stillbirth in Ireland. From this work she has published ten peer-reviewed papers, a policy brief, and presented at various national and international conferences. She also presented her PhD research during a stillbirth webinar held in conjunction with the Institute of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in October 2023.
Tamara successfully defended her PhD on Wednesday, 22 March 2023. Her PhD was funded by Science Foundation Ireland and supervised by Professor Keelin O’Donoghue, Dr Karen Matvienko-Sikar (School of Public Health), Dr Sarah Meaney (National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre, NPEC), and Professor Molly Byrne (Health Behaviour Change Research Group, University of Galway).
