Caroline Joyce receives Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath)
Congratulations to Caroline Joyce who recently obtained Fellowship (by examination) of the Royal College of Pathologists London.
The Fellowship examination of the Royal College of Pathologists is the main method of assessment of pathology training in the UK and Ireland. This examination is taken in two parts and trainees are awarded Fellowship (FRCPath) on completion of both. The FRCPath examination is an assessment of a candidate’s training programme, indicating fitness to practice, and ability to enter independent practice as a consultant in pathology.
Caroline is a Principal Clinical Biochemist at Cork University Hospital and an Irish Research Council PhD Scholar within the Pregnancy Loss Research Group. Through her PhD research she aims to identify more sensitive biomarkers for gestational trophoblastic disease to allow earlier detection of disease recurrence and progression to malignant disease.
Caroline’s PhD is funded by the Irish Research Council: Employment-Based Programme, in partnership with HSE South. It is supervised by Professor Keelin O’Donoghue, Dr John Coulter (Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Cork University Maternity Hospital) and Professor Tommie McCarthy (School of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, UCC).
