An Oireachtas Cross-Party Group on Pregnancy and Infant Loss has been established to drive meaningful action in improving services, supports and outcomes in Ireland. Bringing together members of the Oireachtas across political parties, priority areas for the Cross-Party Group include: (1) Ending preventable baby deaths, (2) Improving and standardising service provision / structures for early pregnancy loss and (3) Recognising and acknowledging pregnancy loss under 23 weeks.

New information and support resource about Ectopic Pregnancy
03 Sep 2025A new information booklet on Ectopic Pregnancy is being launched this September. This resource was developed by the Pregnancy Loss Research Group and Ectopic Pregnancy Ireland, in close collaboration with National Women and Infants Health Programme (NWIHP), healthcare professionals in maternity services, and people with lived experience of ectopic pregnancy.

Spirituality in perinatal loss: love, loss and connection
30 Jun 2025Dr Daniel Nuzum was an invited keynote speaker at the recent International Partnership for Perinatal Excellence (IPPE) Summit for Perinatal Excellence held at Bloomington, Minnesota USA from 18 to 21 June. This meeting had 150 attendees from many parts of the world and focussed on a broad range of areas related to promoting excellence in perinatal bereavement care.

Advancing Sexual Health Promotion: 2025 Annual Health Promotion Conference and new National Sexual Health Strategy
30 Jun 2025Members of the Pregnancy Loss Research Group attended and presented work from the SPRING project at the 29th Annual Health Promotion Conference in Galway on 26 June. This year’s conference focused on ‘From Awareness to Action: Advancing Sexual Health Promotion’, with the new National Sexual Health Strategy 2025–2035 published by the Department of Health the previous day.

12 Jun 2025Yesterday Professor Keelin O’Donoghue and Marita Hennessy PhD participated in an Oireachtas briefing on pregnancy loss under 23 weeks, hosted by Senator Nicole Ryan. Joined by representatives from the Miscarriage Association of Ireland and Féileacáin, the session was titled “Policy change and service improvement for people who experience pregnancy loss: An ambition for the 34th Dáil and 27th Seanad”.
