We are pleased to announce the 17th Annual Psychology, Health and Medicine Conference. This conference is hosted by the Division of Health Psychology of the Psychological Society of Ireland in association with the Division of Health Psychology of the British Psychological Society Northern Ireland Branch in association. This year the School of Public Health and the School of Applied Psychology in University College Cork will jointly host the Conference. The Conference will take place in the Western Gateway Building, University College Cork, on May 22nd 2020.
The Psychology, Health and Medicine conference continues to be a key annual event for people working in the areas of psychology and health in Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as people further afield. The aim of the conference is to promote health psychology, and to provide a forum to share the findings from high quality research on psychology and health. The conference draws practitioners and researchers in psychology, health and cognate fields, and provides an opportunity to build and strengthen professional networks. We expect the conference to be approved for 4 Continuing Professional Development credits for members of the PSI, and will confirm this in January 2020.
The theme of this years Conference is Looking Back & Thinking Ahead: Improving Health Psychology Research and Practice in Ireland. In addition to presentations from our keynote speakers and conference delegates which are always of high quality, this years conference will introduce two exiting new initiatives. The first is an opportunity for a number of patient and public representatives to attend the conference free of charge, and the promotion of a dedicated Patient Public Involvement parallel session (find out more here). The second is emphasis and enactment of a sustainability focus, to reflect the important role psychology has to play in tackling climate change. We look forward to welcoming you all to University College Cork in May 2020
