Biography

Muriel Pate joined the HSE National Quality and Patient Safety Directorate in 2018 as Medication Safety Specialist Pharmacist.  She completed her undergraduate training in The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before moving to Dublin, working in a number of acute hospital roles as a clinical pharmacist, in formulary development and in medication safety roles. 

During the Covid-19 pandemic, she has co-ordinated development of HSE clinical guidance and patient information on a number of medicine-related issues and chaired the subgroup for medication management in the HSE centralised vaccination centres.  She has a particular interest in e-health developments to support safe medication use and is also keen to promote patient engagement to improve knowledge and clear communication about medicines.
