UCC students stand out from the crowd
Over 300 certificates were awarded to students at the annual UCC Works Awards ceremony recently.
The UCC Works Award is a personal skills development programme that helps students to stand out from the crowd when applying for graduate roles and internships.
336 UCC Works Awards Programme certificates were awarded to students in four pathways: Internship, Volunteering, Student Life and Enterpreneurial and Innovation pathway.
Dion Davis, a final year English and Politics student, received the Employability Star Award 2017. The Star Award is given to students who have achieved four or more Works Awards by their final year from each of the four pathways.
Speaking after the awards ceremony at Devere Hall, Dion said: “It's great to have all of your hard work recognised, both in college and afterwards... I enjoyed my time so much during the volunteering pathway tutoring in homework clubs over the past three years that I have decided to apply for a teaching course next year. I also loved my time in societies which helped me make the friends I have today and build connections and networks for the future.”
Dion said that UCC Works had helped her to find a career path and improve a wide array of skills which would stand to her when applying for future jobs. She said she would encourage all students to get involved, saying there was “something for everyone in UCC Works”.
