New international online journal for UCC

The School of Asian Studies at UCC has launched a new international, peer-reviewed online journal.
Poignantly, the first edition of the Irish Journal of Asian Studies commemorates the life of Olan Walsh, an outstanding postgraduate student from the School of Asian Studies, who recently passed away.
The first issue of the Irish Journal of Asian Studies (ISSN2009-8448) has been launched online by its founding and managing editor Dr Kevin Cawley from the School of Asian Studies at UCC:
βThe journal is entirely peer-reviewed and has an international editorial advisory board made up of professors from several high-ranking and internationally prestigious institutions.β
This first volume - a special issue called 'Korea: Past, Present and Future' - containing articles and book reviews by several international scholars from the UK, Ireland, Korea, The United States, Australia and the Czech Republic, illustrating the great interest that already exists in the journal. It also clearly shows the need for an academic journal of this kind.
The lead article is by one of the foremost figures in Korean Studies worldwide, Emeritus Professor James Huntley Grayson, author of Korea β A Religious History.
The French Network of Korean Studies has been a key supporter in promoting the Irish Journal of Asian Studies, further demonstrating the international nature of the journal and its reach.
Other international coverage includes the Korean Studies Association of Australasia and The Korean Association for Religious Studies.
