More than 100 employers will gather at UCC today (October 9), for one of the largest higher education recruitment fairs in Ireland.

Companies including IBM, AIB, Boston Scientific, Glanbia, Fexco and Pfizer will be attending to outline their graduate programmes and opportunities.

The event, now in its 20th year, is considered by industry as a key opportunity to recruit graduates.

“For the past 25 years we have been recruiting UCC students and introduce them to the opportunities within our company,” stated Siobháin Scanlon, Early Careers Manager, Musgrave Group.

The recruitment fair will be open to all current students at UCC.

“Since the improvement in the economy we have seen a marked increase in companies seeking out our graduates. We encourage all students to come along. It is a large fair but a real opportunity to speak with employers about their company and their sector,” commented Mary McNulty, Head of Career Services, UCC.

Thousands of jobs are on offer, one of the Big Four accountancy firms have 380 jobs alone; 147 UCC students were employed by the Big Four last year.

“Since the improvement in the economy we have seen a marked increase in companies seeking out our graduates,” stated Mary McNulty.

The recruitment fair will take place today (October 9) in the Mardyke Arena, UCC, today from 11am to 3pm.
