Second Year Modules: M.Plan2

Second Year M.Plan2

In the second year (M.Plan2), students continue to develop their planning knowledge in a critical way and to fine-tune their understanding of key principles and ideas through classroom work, local field trips (on rural and environmental themes) and an International Study Visit.  As with MPlan1, all second year modules are compulsory. For further details on each module, select the module title from the list below.

The focus generally is on more applied planning knowledge and on the practical side of professional planning work. Urban design and sustainable place making are important themes in the second year and the students also explore rural planning and development, landscape, heritage and natural resources, and the economic aspects of planning.

To complete the course, students carry out their own piece of research in the form of a short dissertation (12,000 - 15,000 words).
