Event to Launch the UCC Clinical Pharmacy and General Practice Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Partnership

14 Oct 2025
The PPI Kick-off Event at UCC marked the official launch of the UCC Clinical Pharmacy and General Practice  Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Partnership on Tuesday 14th October 2025  and was attended by a large number of patients and public individuals, researchers, and academics.

At the event, we reflected on the journey so far in establishing our PPI Partnership and heard directly from one of our PPI Partners about their experiences. A lively roundtable discussion followed, focusing on next steps for embedding the PPI Partnership into our medicine optimisation and prescribing research. The insights gathered will be invaluable for scaling up the PPI group.

Overall, it was an engaging and enjoyable day celebrating a key milestone for UCC Department of General Practice and School of Pharmacy in launching our own PPI group to contribute to ongoing and future research projects. The event also successfully gathered expressions of interest from new patient and public individuals keen to join the partnership.

If you would like to learn more or get involved as a patient or public partner, or if you are a researcher in the Department of General Practice interested in integrating PPI into your project, please contact the Department of General Practice PPI Coordinator, Dr Elizabeth O’Donnell at email: eodonnell@ucc.ie
