Spreading the Word - Professor Skelton in Cork promoting Falls Prevention, Physical Activity and FaME

The FaME Ireland Team, and the wider Discipline of Physiotherapy at UCC were delighted to welcome Dawn Skelton, Professor of Aging and Health at GCU and Director of Later Life Training for a whistlestop tour of Cork to meet clinicians, policy makers, academics, lecturers and students during her 4 day visit in March 2026. As well as speaking at the FaME Ireland conference, Dawn also had the opportunity to present at a Grand Round meeting in CUH, and deliver sessions to the MSc Physiotherapy students.

At the UCC Grand Rounds series of lectures, Dawn delivered a presentation on Wednesday 4th March 2026 on 'Falls and frailty management and prevention: ​Right person, right programme, right place'.   On Thursday 5th March 2026, Dawn met with clinical lecturers in the Discipline of Physiotherapy at Cork, and with colleagues in the Tyndall National Institute, Cork.  She also shared her wealth of knowledge and experience with the first and second year students on the MSc Physiotherapy Programme in two seminars.
