Ruth presenting findings from FaME Ireland at the 3rd World Falls Congress in Manchester
A fabulous three day international event looking at all aspects of falls, and falls prevention and management was hosted by the British Geriatrics Society in Manchester over 26-28th June 2026. Ruth was speaking at the Friday session chaired by Professor Dawn Skelton, in a well received session, which shared implementation stories of falls prevention exercise programmes and interventions across the UK, Ireland, Spain and Brazil.
Ruth was joined on stage with international colleagues presenting on their experiences of implementing falls exercise programmes:
- Dr Fay Manning, Lecturer, University of Exeter (From evidence to practice; fidelity challenges in FaME programme delivery)
- Dr Ruth McCullagh, Senior Lecturer, University College Cork Building the case; understanding facilitators and barriers to rolling out FaME in Ireland

- Monica Rodrigues Perracini, Professor Masters and Doctoral Programs in Physical Therapy Universidade Cidade de São Paulo, Brazil Understanding contextual challenges for implementing exercise programs for fall prevention in Brazil
