Simple web tools to support wind energy studies
Simple, free tools for mapping, sketching, analysing wind data. No registration required.
Here is a collection of free, simple tools that are useful for creating reports, maps, and slides. None of these tools requires registration for a user account.
Mapping
Geosq - Simple online mapping tool. Enter or paste a list of points, and create a map instantly. Useful for mapping turbine locations.
Irish Transverse Mercator co-ordinate conversion. Enter Easting and Northing and select target co-ordinate system, e.g. WGS84 for latitude and longitude. Or perform the inverse conversion.
Wind Analysis
Swiss Wind Energy Weibull Tool. Paste in an observed frequency distribution of wind speeds, and visualise it. Fit a Weibull distribution. Several other tools and explainers are available on this site.
Equation Editor
Lagidra LaTeX Editor. Quick and easy way to enter LaTeX markup to create instant equations to paste into slides or reports. No LaTeX compiler needed.
Sketching
https://app.diagrams.net/. Formerly known as draw.io . Simple tool but has useful feature to export either raster (PNG) or vector (SVG) formats. For jobs where MS Paint is too basic but AutoCAD is overkill.
