Abstract
Gender equality (GE) in research raises fundamental questions for existing research structures and
norms. We ask how conventionalscience can meaningfully adopt a gender perspective that would “undo” much of what is considered sacred to the nature of science. This paper reflects on the challenges and opportunities of taking a feminist-inspired approach to integrating a gender perspective into a large-scale scientific research project. We present our reflexive “Parallel” approach (based on PArticipatory, RelAtionaL and contExtuaL principles) to improving GEin a way that goes beyond “technicalfixes” and reflect on the challenges of effecting meaningful change.
