Welcome to visiting scholar Hannah Weytjens
We are delighted to welcome Hannah Weytjens as Visiting Scholar at Collective Social Futures and ISS21 during June 2026.
Hannah is currently a PhD candidate at the research group Culture, Conflict and Inequalities, KU Leuven and Research on Ethnic Relations, Migration and Equality (GERME), ULB. Her PhD looks at how people live together and make sense of difference in superdiverse cities — places where many cultures, languages, and histories meet and intersect. Her research focuses on Brussels, especially the neighbourhoods of Lower-Molenbeek and Matonge, which are notable examples of how diversity and inequality shape everyday urban life. Methodologically, the project combines walking interviews and ethnographic fieldwork.
During her visit to CSF and ISS21 Hannah plans to develop collaborative networks, by connecting with academics and students whose research interests lie in the fields of migration, gender, social justice, and community-engaged work. She will meet with scholars who have experience with participatory and socially engaged methodologies and with designing impactful research. Hannah plans to join seminars and other events in UCC, as well as sharing her work-in-progress.
