Large-scale Model of Cork City arrives in UCC
A 3D printed model of Cork City recently came to its new home at the geography library University College Cork.
The model measures 3.5 x 2 metres and covers 28sq km of Cork city. This wonderful resource will enable students and visitors to explore Cork’s urban landscape in miniature.
The model was originally created as part of Building City Dashboards project work at Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute. Dr Maedhbh Nic Lochlainn (UCC Human Geography and GIS) coordinated efforts to have the model mounted for display and transferred to UCC, with funding from a Higher Education Research Equipment Grant (HEREG).
Collective Social Futures looks forward to running a workshop to introduce the model, one of a series of events planned by Maedhbh and her colleagues in the Geography department. Stay tuned for updates.
