Sreeja is a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in tumor hypoxia, cancer, biomaterials and bone tissue regeneration. After completing her MSc in Biochemistry, she embarked on her PhD journey as a UGC-Junior Research Fellow (UGC-JRF, Gov. of India) and was awarded her PhD in Biochemistry (2017) for her work on tumor hypoxia-specific drug targeting.

Sreeja began her postdoctoral research at Cochin University of Science and Technology, where she was awarded the prestigious National Postdoctoral Fellowship grant from the Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB, Gov. of India) to support her research project on surface-functionalized, biocompatible osteogenic constructs. In 2022, she joined University College Cork as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physiology for the VitDOC project focused on the role of vitamin D receptor in oesophageal adenocarcinoma.

Currently, Sreeja is a senior postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Mark Tangney’s team at Cancer Research @UCC, where she contributes to the project focused on anti-cancer immunotherapy, with a specific emphasis on engineered bacteria in cancer therapeutic applications.
