Ciarán Devoy is a postdoctoral researcher specialising in the intersection of synthetic biology, microbiome research, and cancer therapeutics. Currently, he is involved in six clinical trials examining the impact of the gut microbiome on cancer treatment outcomes. Alongside this work, he is developing novel synthetic biomarkers, engineering bacteria to produce targeted proteins for improved diagnostics and therapeutic applications.
With a strong technical background, Ciarán has extensive experience in protein engineering, bacterial expression systems, cell culture, in vivo cancer models, and nanopore sequencing, as well as CRISPR and microRNA research. His expertise extends to bioinformatics, where he employs R-based pipelines for sequencing analysis.
Passionate about translational cancer research, Ciarán is driven by the idea that science should serve humanity first. He is particularly interested in the intersection of synthetic biology and oncology, believing that the next wave of cancer therapies will come from creative, interdisciplinary approaches that challenge conventional thinking.
