This flexible, part-time Postgraduate Certificate in MetOcean for Offshore Wind was co-designed in collaboration with the Skillnet Offshore Wind Academy (SOWA). It provides a strong foundation for professionals seeking to contribute to the sustainable development of offshore wind infrastructure.

Complete all six modules → earn a Postgraduate Certificate
You can complete the full Postgraduate Certificate in one year (part-time), or build towards the qualification over time by completing individual microcredentials at your own pace over 3 years.
Programme Structure
The Postgraduate Certificate consists of six 5-credit modules. All six modules are available to complete once per academic year. Each module will be available to take in one of the two semesters, see breakdown here:

Choose Your Pathway
You can complete the full Postgraduate Certificate in one year (part-time) or build towards the qualification over time by completing the modules at your own pace over 3 years.
Stackable Microcredentials
(over 3 years)
Successfully complete all six modules (microcredentials), in any order or annual combination, over a maximum of 3 years. Once all six modules are successfully completed, you will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate.
1-year, part-time, PGCert
Successfully complete all six modules together over 1-year (part-time) and you will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in MetOcean for Offshore Wind
Both pathways lead to the same Postgraduate Certificate qualification.
Individual Modules (Microcredentials)
Each module is designed as a stackable microcredential. This allows you to build a full postgraduate qualification over time.
Each module (microcredential) may also be completed as a standalone microcredential allowing you to upskill quickly in a particular area.
Flexible Learning for Adults

Each module/microcredential comprises of approximately 2-4 hours of lectures per week.
Lectures are delivered one day per week (Mon-Fri).
Each module runs over a 12-week period.
Modules are designed to fit around professional commitments and can be taken individually or combined towards the full Postgraduate Certificate. All content is industry-relevant, supporting immediate application in your current or future role.
Remote Access
Modules are delivered in a blended format, combining in-person and online learning.
Where needed, modules can be accessed fully remotely in consultation with the Programme Director, making the programme accessible to those working off-site or internationally.
Recorded lectures are available via Canvas, UCC’s virtual learning environment.
Integrated Learning
Teaching is delivered through a combination of:
Lectures, seminars, and workshops
Laboratory and fieldwork
Computer-based exercises
Independent study
Assessment
Assessment is based on a combination of coursework (including laboratory, computer-based, and fieldwork elements) and written examinations.
The weighting of each assessment component varies by module.
