Note: While trenching a road, Connolly was cornered and killed along with three other Volunteers by a night patrol of the Essex Regiment on 16 February 1921 at Crois na Leanbh (Crushnalanive). Volunteer Connolly was one of the eight living children (nine born) of the Farrannagark agricultural labourer Timothy Connolly Sr (aged 55 in 1911) and his wife Bridget. Only three of their eight children were co-resident with their parents in that year. The other five, including the later Volunteer Timothy Jr, no longer resided at home. Volunteer Connolly was buried in the Republican Plot in Kilbrittain Churchyard.
