Having already dedicated the month of November to taking part in 'Movember' a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health, senior medical demonstrators Dr Johnny O'Mahony and Dr Muhammad Asim Javaid joined by Dr Gilliard Lach post doctoral researcer, demonstrated their organisational and baking skills by hosting a 'Bake Sale' in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Mental Health Charities in the Western Gateway building on Friday 25th November.

19 Dec 2016A new five day course introducing the study of anatomy to transition students has just been launched by the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience. Exploring the structure and function of the human body at multiple levels the course will take place on the 8th -12th May 2017.

The death has occurred of Dr. Tom Crotty, retired lecturer Department of Anatomy
13 Dec 2016Staff in the department are saddened to learn of the death of their former colleague and friend Dr Tom Crotty. Dr Crotty lectured histology in the Department of Anatomy from 1966 until his retirement in 1991.

Windle Building changes its Anatomy
26 Nov 2016Europe’s long-term lending institution, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a €100 million loan agreement with University College Cork on Friday 25th November 2016 ensuring the continuation and completion of the transformation of the Windle Building into a state of the art student hub. The Windle Building which had until 2011 been home to the Department of Anatomy, has since the summer begun a seismic transformation into the ‘Student Hub Project’.

Dr Gerard O'Keeffe receives substantial SFI Career Development Award
25 Oct 2016Congratulations to Dr Gerard O'Keeffe who has just received a Career Development Award from Science Foundation Ireland as part of a €22 Million Government Investment in next generation research talent. This career development award is one of 20 such research projects across Ireland to be supported through this new Government research funding announced by Minister of State for Training, Skills and Innovation, John Halligan TD this week.
