Visit to UCC by Koç University UNIC Coordinator, Birce Demiryontar

Dr Birce Demiryontar, Project Coordinator of UNIC, and Scientific Coordinator of Migration Research Center at Koç University Istanbul, visited University College Cork on a staff exchange visit, 9-11 June 2025. 

The visit was hosted by Mathias Reckmann of the UNIC office in UCC, who put on a packed schedule of meetings covering UNIC implementation in UCC (city engagement, mobility, joint programmes, teaching & learning) as well as an academic focus on the topics of superdiversity and migration. 

The visit also featured a special showing of the summer exhibition by students of the MSc RePIC (Redesigning the Post-Industrial City) at the Cork Centre for Architectural Education. 

Birce’s visit to UCC will enhance the collaborative work between UCC and Koç University Istanbul, particularly in the area of academic engagement via the UNIC Thematic Lines, where Birce provides co-leadership in developing and supporting communities of researchers and educators.
