Meet the 2025/26 UNIC UCC student representatives

University College Cork's student representatives for UNIC in the academic year 2025/26 are Margarita Linetska and Sadhbh Tierney.

Margarita and Sadhbh take part in the UNIC student board which is made up of two student representatives from each partner university. The student representatives play an important role in the alliance. They give input on the collaborative activities and strategic direction of UNIC from a student perspective, and provide leadership in raising awareness of UNIC among students on their campuses.

Margarita Linetska

Margarita is currently in her third year studying Law and Business. Originally from Ukraine, she has demonstrated outstanding academic and personal commitment throughout her time at UCC. In her first year, Margarita achieved top 10 results in her Contract Law module. Her dedication and resilience were further recognised when she was selected as a winner in the “Exceptional Journey” category at the CUBS Leaders of Tomorrow Awards. She is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English, and her multilingual ability enriches her academic experience and engagement in a diverse university environment. Margarita is currently serving her second year as a Peer Support Leader, offering guidance and support to fellow students. She is passionate about wellness and enjoys practicing Pilates in her free time. With a growing interest in various areas of law, she looks forward to further advancing her academic and professional journey.

Sadbh Tierney

Sadhbh is studying Arts International with European Studies, French and German, and is in her final year. She has previously served as Chairperson and Deputy PRO for the Europa Society, and this year will act as Secretary of the Europa Society and Erasmus Officer of the French Society. She has been elected European Studies class representative, and has worked with the Students Union as Election Officer and Community Support Worker. In her first year she was a recipient of the Mary Ryan Language Scholarship and of the Quercus College Scholarship.
