UCC PhD researcher participates in Summer School at Koç University

3 Jun 2024

Pooja Priya, University College Cork doctoral researcher in the Department of Sociology, participated in the Summer School on Urban Migration offered by MiReKoc (Migration Research Center) at Koç University Istanbul, 3-14 June 2024.

The MiReKoc Summer School was truly a learning experience for me because I was able to meet with migration scholars within both the Global North and Global South. It provided a plethora of networking opportunities particularly with researchers working on African migration within the Global South, like myself, with whom I would further like to explore postdoctoral research opportunities.

Additionally, this Summer School was extraordinary in the sense that it covered a wide range of discussions starting from both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, concepts and theories of homemaking and migration on which my doctoral research is based and which shapes my research further.

Overall, I would highly recommend opportunities like this to anyone interested in pursuing research in the domain of migration and would love to be a part of a similar opportunity at MiReKoc in the future. Also, exploring Istanbul was a part of the larger learning experience.
