SDSN event 'Climate, Migration, Refugees and the SDGs: Leaving No One Behind'

On September 14th, the EU Presidency associated Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Ireland event "Climate, Migration, Refugees and the SDGs: Leaving No One Behind" was held at UCC in partnership with the UNIC European University Alliance and UCC Collective Social Futures Institute.

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) is an all-island network of universities and knowledge-generating institutions working collaboratively to accelerate progress towards the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDSN Ireland is co-hosted by UCC and Queen’s University Belfast.  

UNIC was a proud partner of this event which featured opening remarks by Minister of State Neale Richmond and a keynote by Ambassador David Donoghue, former Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations and a Co-Facilitator of the negotiations that led to the adoption of the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provided a keynote address.

A panel of practitioners and scholars across migration, humanitarian response, climate action, and social inclusion was moderated by Prof. Áine Ryall, UCC School of Law. It  included Jim Clarken, CEO of Oxfam Ireland, Seán Farrell, CEO of Trócaire, Dr Naomi Masheti, Director of Cork Migrant Centre, and Prof. Maggie O’Neill, UCC Sociology and Criminology.
