Announcing the UNIC Thematic Lines Best Paper Award and Best CityLabs Award 2026

UNIC has launched two awards, the Thematic Lines Best Paper Award and Thematic Lines CityLabs Award 2026. UCC staff are encouraged to apply.

The Best Paper Awards recognize outstanding scholarly contributions that advance UNIC’s mission to address institutional transformation, justice, security, and well-being in Europe’s post-industrial cities.  Awardees receive €750 as per the local guidelines (see below). 

The CityLabs Award recognises good practice initiatives for embedding UNIC CityLabs in curriculum and research, applying innovative and impactful transdisciplinary practice and co-creation methodologies to address societal challenges in Europe’s post-industrial cities.  Awardees receive €500 as per the local guidelines (see below). 

Awardees will be invited to be presented with their award at the UNIC 2nd Thematic Conference, “Institutions in Transition: Justice, Security, and Well-Being in Post-Industrial Cities,” hosted by Koç University from 17–19 June 2026 in Istanbul.
