The UCC Cork-Singida Partnership is a long-standing charitable collaboration between University College Cork staff and Makiungu Hospital in Singida, Tanzania. UCC staff contribute financially through regular salary deductions.
Established over 30 years ago, the partnership aims to support and improve healthcare services and population health in the Singida Region in Tanzania.
While the initial focus of the project was on enhancing the quality of medical care provided by Makiungu Hospital, in recent years the focus has shifted to community health, including support for health centres and dispensaries in remote rural areas, support for the Faraja Hospice and Palliative Care Programme and for work addressing the problem of human trafficking.
The UCC Cork-Singida Partnership would greatly appreciate your support so that we can continue to improve healthcare services and population health in Singida, Tanzania. |

Cork-Singida Partnership
WHO ARE WE?
The Cork-Singida Partnership is a registered charity set up over 30 years ago by UCC staff. During this period they have contributed over €1 million to healthcare projects in Singida, Tanzania, to help fight, amongst other scourges, malaria - still the second biggest killer in that country.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Each month, money is deducted from the salaries of more than 70 staff (present or retired) and sent to Tanzania via the Cork-Singida Partnership. Outside of members, the partnership is not at all that well known in UCC – possibly because, even in this era of tribunals, we have never been touched by the tongue of scandal.
