UCC continues to rise in latest QS World University Rankings

18 Jun 2026

University College Cork (UCC) has risen twenty-six places in one of the world’s leading education rankings. The 2026/2027 edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, released today by the global higher education analyst, sees UCC placed 220 in the world.

Today’s ranking comes on the back of a twenty-seven-place improvement last year. It is the fourth year in a row that UCC has climbed in the ranking.

QS rated UCC highly across the set of nine indicators, with particular strengths for academic and employer reputation, sustainability, global engagement, as well as quality of research and innovation thus helping to propel UCC to its highest ranking since 2013. The independent assessment itself continues to grow with 8,808 institutions across 106 locations evaluated and 1,504 universities making the final published listing.

UCC President Prof. John O’Halloran welcomed UCC’s further continued improvement in the rankings, stating:

“A key focus of our strategic plan was to move UCC within the 250 universities in the world. We are pleased with the further improvement of 26 places as this result positions UCC inside the Top 220 universities in the world, an affirmative milestone for our staff, students, supporters and alumni, both at home and abroad. UCC is focused on delivering outcomes and positively impacting the world around us. This result reflects our missions as well UCC's growing international reputation and the quality of the teaching, research and innovation at the University.”
