Seminar of Ancient and Medieval Studies (SAMS)

The Seminar of Ancient and Medieval Studies (SAMS) is a research forum established to bring together researchers in late antique and medieval studies from across the university.

The first talk in the 2025 SAMS autumn series will take place on Wednesday, 8 October at 6.00pm in West Wing 5

Dr Emma Nic Cárthaigh will speak on the topic From injury to insult: humour, horror and suspension of disbelief in the Colloquy of Fintan mac Bóchrai and the Hawk of Achill.

The Seminar for Ancient and Medieval Studies (SAMS) is an interdisciplinary forum that brings together staff and students from Archaeology, Classics, Digital Humanities, Early and Medieval Irish, English, History, and Languages. The convenors are Dr Máirín MacCarron and Dr Caitríona Ó Dochartaigh. Seminars are open to the University community and interested members of the public.
