Two of our B.Ed. (Hons) Sports Studies and Physical Education students received the UCC Sports Star Award this year.
The ceremony took place on Thursday the 13th of April 2017 at the River Lee Hotel.
Colin is an endurance kayaker and just completed a 2,000 kilometre, 70-day kayaking trip across the Persian Gulf.
A special lecture event was held in UCC last Wednesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sports Studies and Physical Education programme. Leicester FC Psychologist Ken Way discussed his views on the team.

Dr Wesley O'Brien has been interviewed in the Evening Echo this week on the importance of Fundamental Movement Skills for the development of Cork GAA's young people.
Dr Wesley O Brien from the UCC B.Ed. Sports Studies and Physical Education programme in conjunction with Sport Ireland and Kildare Sports Partnership will be speaking at a free seminar on developing children's physical literacy on Saturday the 3rd of December from 10am to 1.30pm in the Osprey Hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare. This seminar is designed for for teachers, parents and coaches.

Huge congratulations to fourth year BEd (Hons) Sports Studies and Physical Education student, Alison Miller, who played an integral part in helping the Irish Women’s Rugby team claim the Women's Six Nations title and a 73-3 victory over Scotland yesterday.
Dr Susan Crawford was a guest speaker at the Cork SportsAbility Seminar, hosted by the Cork Sports Ability Forum in CIT on Thursday evening, the 5th March 2015. There was a fantastic turnout on the night, full of enthusiastic people who are passionate about promoting sport for people with disabilities in Cork.
