The Saérlaith Project is a new installation by Jools Gilson made in collaboration with visual artist Veronica Santorum and sound artist / cinematographer Benjamin Burns, with support from researchers Dr Brendan O’Flynn and Colum Crowe (Tyndall National Institute) and Dance Artist Justine Cooper.

Bowls of whispering sphagnum moss, haunting dance films and 7th century bogstories - The Saérlaith Project digs deep into embodied audio with an installation buried in Cloonshannagh Bog, Co. Roscommon. Something moves beneath a haunted map; choreography collaborates with moths in short dance films; a real 7th Century female bog body has things to say . . . 

Based on research conducted as part of an Arts Council Dance Bursary. Dance Films shot on Griston Bog, Ballylanders, Co. Limerick with the support of Ballyhoura Heritage and Environment. Funded by Insight: Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics, The Arts Council, UCC & Fulbright Ireland.
