Outline
This offering will discuss the principles of advanced assessment of hearing in children from birth.
The offering will focus on the behavioural assessment of hearing loss in infants and younger children within the context of child-centred and family friendly services, as well as the epdemiology and differential diagnosis of hearing loss in this population.
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this offering, students should be able to:
- Characterise a wide range of behavioral assessments of hearing for infants and children
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to select appropriate assessments based on the maturational and developmental stages of infancy and childhood
- Critically evaluate theories underlying the management of hearing loss, including hearing aid fitting, verification and validation for children.
