Research

The School of Applied Social Studies is a research active department which has a strong commitment to both applied and more theoretical research. The School has a wide research profile which focuses on research on specific groups and issues and the education/training of social professions.  The large number of publications provides some indication of both the quality and quantity of research undertaken, as well as the ability of academic staff to disseminate research findings.  We have successfully obtained research funding from a variety of sources including Combat Poverty, ISPCC, Royal Irish Academy, Department of the Taoiseach, the Higher Education Authority, HSE, the British Council and IRCHSS(Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences).
