.jpeg)
The Coimisiún na Meán hosted a workshop on Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as part of the process to develop a long-awaited Gender, Equality, Inclusion and Diversity strategy for the media sector.
Workshop attendees were welcomed by Rónán Ó Domhnaill, the Media Development Commissioner who kicked off proceedings. Eleanor McSherry, Programme Coordinator at ACE at UCC was invited to attend and contribute to the development of the strategy by sharing her insights in this field.
Eleanor has extensive expertise in the areas of inclusion and media, having worked across both fields for a number of years. She is Programme Coordinator/Designer and Lecturer in Autism Studies, Disability Studies, Neurodiversity in the Screen Industry (Screen Ireland), Neurodiversity in the Creative Industries (Irish Theater Institute/Safe to Create), and Wellbeing Coordinator (Screen Ireland/Irish Theater Institute/Safe to Create) at University College Cork Adult Continuing Education. Eleanor is also a member of IFTA and Women in Film & Television (Ireland) and Writers Guild of Ireland.
The Gender, Equality, Inclusion and Diversity strategy for the media sector is expected to be concluded by year-end. This strategy will outline how a system of standards to ensure greater representation in these important areas across all media, could be adopted and operated.
