SFI UREKA Site UPCRO 2009, now in it's 3rd year, is now taking applications.

UPCRO UREKA Site, now in its third year, was established in University College Cork to provide world-class training in the Pharmaceutical Sciences to highly-motivated undergraduate students from Ireland and abroad.  Hosted by the Analytical & Biological Chemistry Research Facility UCC, this UREKA site is offering 13 research positions for a period of 10 weeks from the 15th June to the 21st August 2009.  Positions are open to 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students in Chemistry, Pharmacy or related disciplines from both Ireland and abroad.

The research theme of the UREKA Site is Pharmaceutically Active Compounds: Synthesis, Analysis, Formulation and Crystallisation.  The participating laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities housed in the new Cavanagh Pharmacy Building, UCC.  The participating research groups are engaged in internationally recognised, high quality research.  The UREKA site will also provide a range of other educational events (seminars, workshops, site visits to the Pharmaceutical industry), intended to stimulate interest in science and to highlight the excitement and fulfilment that scientific investigation can engender.

Applications are invited from suitable 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates in Chemistry, Pharmacy or related disciplines.  Closing date for applications is the 2nd March 2009.
