Note: Daniel McCarthy was fatally wounded in the Douglas/Rochestown area on ca. 9 August 1922 while fighting with the anti-Treaty IRA as National Army forces moved from their landing at Passage towards the capture of Cork city. He was a member of the First Battalion of the Cork No. 1 Brigade. He succumbed to his wounds, presumably at a hospital in Cork city, on 20 August. See Cork One Brigade (1963), Roll of Honour. His name does not appear among those members of the Cork No. 1 Brigade who were buried in the Republican Plot in St Finbarr’s Cemetery in Cork city.
