Note: Timothy O’Leary, a retired RIC constable, was travelling in a pony-and-trap with his aunt on a journey from Kinsale to see his mother in Kilbrittain. They were stopped outside Ballinspittle by two armed men. The men took O’Leary away, and his dead body with bullet wounds was later found on the roadway. He had been disbanded from the RIC only recently.
