Note: A gunner of the Royal Garrison Artillery, Williams died of a bullet wound inflicted when Gunner Rattledge accidentally discharged his weapon while on parade at Fort Carlisle (now Fort Davis), located at the entrance to Cork Harbour. Williams’s death certificate revealed that he had died as a result of ‘haemorrhage caused by a bullet wound accidentally received’.
