Trouble Connecting?
With the exception of Windows 7, all you need to do to connect is select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks, enter your UCC Staff email address and Central password, and choose connect. It is that simple, but if you having trouble see below for trouble shooting tips:
Troubleshooting tips:
- Have you recently reset your UCC Password?
- When you change your central account password you will need to re-enter it on your device accessing the Wi-Fi.
- If you have multiple @ucc.ie email addresses you should verify with the helpdesk which email account to use.
- It is only individuals own accounts that are intended for access to the eduroam service. Service based or functional mailboxes will not have access to eduroam.
- If you do not have a Central account you will need to contact the helpdesk to get Central credentials.
If you experience difficulty connecting your device to eduroam contact the helpdesk on ext 2120, to arrange a timeslot to drop in your device.
The staff IT helpdesk is located on the 3rd Floor of the Kane Building.
eduroam Abroad
eduroam allows UCC Staff to have instant Wi-Fi access at other affiliated institutions all over the world see http://www.ucc.ie/en/it/itservicecatalogue/eduroam/ for more details.
If you are an academic visiting UCC and are wondering about WiFi access please follow the link here.
Terms of Service
You must have a UCC Staff email address to connect to the eduroam Staff Wi-Fi service and it must end in @ucc.ie.
No email address that is purely functional i.e. not a specific users email address, will be able to connect to the Wi-Fi service.
All users of the service are subject to the UCC Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP). You must not configure a device that is not your own for the Wi-Fi service as that will be in breach of the acceptable usage policy.
All users of the service are required to keep their Operating Systems fully patched and up to date.
Wi-Fi access is a complementary service to that provided by the cabled network (UCC LAN) available in all staff offices and, though it does not have the same level of performance, service or reliability, it may be useful for those who spend time away from their office or travel between the different UCC campuses on a regular basis.
N.B. When you change your logon password for your PC and/or email you will then also need to re-enter your credentials on your device to continue using the Wi-Fi Service.
Wireless Hotspots on Campus
UCC offers a guest wireless service to provide authorised sponsored guests short term access to the internet for accessing their email and other internet enabled services from their personal laptops, netbooks, smartphones or tablets during their stay in University College Cork. The service is accessible in all areas where the standard eduroam wireless service is available and a list of the hotspots can be found below.
