One Drive is a cloud storage solution that allows users to store and share files which can then be accessed from anywhere.   

One Drive allows users to:

  • Access files anywhere across multiple platforms and devices (Android, iOS etc).
  • Store and sync work files to your personal OneDrive for Business.
  • Share your files with colleagues in UCC
  • Collaborate on the same files in real-time with your colleagues online from anywhere in the world.

1. What is the size limit?

 Due to new storage restrictions that will be implemented by Microsoft from August 2024 we are in the process of rolling out new storage limits to staff and students.

The new OneDrive storage allocations will be:

  • Student OneDrive 15GB
  • Staff OneDrive 150GB

We are rolling this limit out in a phased manner.  

This change is being implemented to stop the spread of storage use before the new storage reductions take effect.

In August 2024, we will commence a communications campaign to all staff asking them to reduce their storage use in OneDrive below 150GB.

2. What is the item limit?

One Drive for Business allows you to sync up to 20,000 files.
