Filesender is one of edugate’s authenticated services and is particularly useful as it can be used to send large files. Within UCC we are limited to sending files 20MB in size or under. When we are emailing outside of UCC we are limited to sending files that are under 8MB. Filesender allows us to upload and send files of up to 2GB in size for non-HTML5 browsers. You can have uploads of any size if you have a browser that supports HTML5. Currently Firefox 4 (and higher) and Chrome on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux are known to work. 

Additionally, Filesender has an inbuilt encryption option which allows you to protect your files before sending them within UCC. This encryption can also be used by vendors external to UCC, by providing them with a guest voucher to access the service. The vendor then follows the same procedure as staff to upload and encrypt a file, before sending it to a UCC recipient.
