Project Coordinators

Ms. Nicola Maxwell, National Project Coordinator, n.maxwell@ucc.ie

Nicola Maxwell B. Soc. Sc. (NUI, Cork), M.Sc. (Oxon) is GENOVATE National Project (Co)Coordinator. She has a combination of academic and applied experience with regard to equality, rights-based approaches and action research methodologies having previously worked in the NGO sector, chiefly with Oxfam GB.  Nicola delivers social policy modules and teaches on a programme for people with intellectual disabilities. Her PhD research at the  Centre for Disability Law and Policy in NUI Galway explores how rights-based approaches, reflecting core tenets derived from international Human Rights legislation, are implemented within disability services for adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) in Ireland.

Dr. Sarah M. Field, National Project Coordinator, sfield@ucc.ie

Sarah M. Field is GENOVATE National Project (Co)Coordinator. She has a blend of applied and academic experience supporting the fulfilment of international human rights law through international research and legal advocacy projects. She has global experience supporting domestic knowledge and practice of international human rights law, with a specific focus on equality and non-discrimination, within varied jurisdictions of Europe, eastern and southern Africa and the Asia and Pacific regions. Sarah has an LLB from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD from University College Cork and blogs occasionally at rights-streams.com

Project Administrator

Ms. Siobhán O'Brien, GENOVATE Project Administrator, siobhanobrien@ucc.ie

Siobhán O'Brien is GENOVATE Project Administrator.  Prior to taking up her current role, Siobhán worked in different industries from food production to a Biotechnology company start-up, in the private sector, in an administrative capacity. Siobhán holds a BA and MA from UCC and regularly volunteers at a local after school programme which offers educational support to teenage students in the community.

Ms. Aifric O Grada, GENOVATE Project Coordinator (2013-14)

Aifric Ó Gráda is a sociologist with research interests in gender, equality, community and social identity. She previously coordinated the Through the Glass Ceiling project, establishing and delivering an innovative mentoring programme and career development training programme for female academics and researchers in UCC.  That project also led a national collaboration of higher education stakeholders to develop Recommendations for Actions towards Gender Equality in Academic and Research Careers in the Higher Education Sector.
