About the Cluster
This interdisciplinary cluster brings together researchers from across the university who share an interest in research in the broad areas of Work, Organisations and Welfare. The cluster particularly seeks to foster research on economic, financial and market topics from the perspective of the social sciences and critical humanities. Building fruitful connections across the boundaries of disciplines and schools, the cluster aspires to amplify novel perspectives which are sidelined in contemporary discourses, to spur future-oriented thinking to face looming societal challenges.
Cluster Aims and Objectives
The cluster provides a platform for UCC researchers to promote their work, exchange and discuss research and, engage with local, national and international stakeholders. The themes explored include:
- The Future of Work: Automation, AI and digital transformations
- Careers, jobseeking and the labour market.
- Organisations, change and care
- Social policy and welfare reform
- Education, social class and mobility
- Precarious work, inequality and discrimination
- Financial markets and regulation
- Gender, work and the labour market
- Ecological sustainability, just transition, and new economic models.
